Danielle And Her Ghost

Danielle Harris recently won best actress at Shockfest. On the set of Ghost of Goodnight Lane she definitely carried her weight with some heavy hitting, blood drenched, scream worthy scenes. I was lucky enough to get to sit down with Danielle in an interview to find out a little more about her and the paranormal she has experienced in her many years as the "Scream Queen". While Danielle did not have any run ins with our ghost on set, she did mention something I wasn't expecting. Her own house is haunted. Apparently there is a spirit in her home that has gone so far as to turn on the fan in the middle of the night when she was in a dead sleep. Or turn on the lights when she was asleep. This same spirit liked to turn the volume up and down on her radio going from barely audible to blaring loud. One evening, Danielle happened to be entertaining friends and was telling the story of her paranormal visitor when the radio did exactly what she had said it would. As many would be, her guests were skeptical. But believe it or not, Danielle not only proved her point, she was able to tell the ghost what to do. Find out more on the special features behind the scenes of Ghost of Goodnight Lane and see just how much control Danielle Harris has with this ghostly being in her home. Just what all would it do to make itself known to her friends? You will have to wait and see...but even I was surprised.

They Love Tara

We all know and love Tara from the Ghost of Goodnight Lane production staff, well apparently the ghosts were quite found of her too. From the minute Tara stepped foot into the studios our other wordly friends had fun teasing her with their paranormal ways. One day while Tara's three nieces were visiting one of the ghosts decided to go so far as to grab hold of her desk and give it a good rattle and shake while Tara and her nieces were sitting on the couch in front of it. They also like to play pranks with her plants. She had certain spots in her office for her plants, but a certain ghost would move them, far too often, in front of the door. Tara would put the plants back where they belonged only to find later in the day another was right back in front of the door. Their favorite thing to do to Tara was to pop in front of her pictures. Many times she would take pictures on set and our little friends would show up in a ghostly glow on her camera phone. They especially like to prank her by covering the faces of those she was trying to take pictures of. The thing that weirded Tara out the most was a particularly quiet day on set. She was in a far back office on the computer and had some files pulled up on the computer. She left briefly, just out of the room. Nobody went in or even near the office. When she came back to sit down she found that someone had searched on her screen. Someone had searched for Lady Gaga on her screen, by her original name. Now it is no secret that our ghosts like music. But now they were hitting the computers to search for tunes!

And So They Speak...

You've read in past blogs that the ghosts of Goodnight Lane like to move or hide the belongings of those who work inside. The grips and crew also had their belongings tampered with, specifically their keys. You see, the ghosts seemed to think it was funny during filming to take the keys to all of the utility vans used to hall equipment. There were several used and many of the staff had keys as well as master sets that were all kept in a specific location, but our ghosts managed to, well, take them all at the same time. This happened more than once and usually late at night so that someone would have to stay late after everyone else went home to wait for a locksmith to come and make new keys. One evening when just such an occurance had happened, one of our crew members, Barry was the one designated to stay late. He was alone walking through the building when he had the strong feeling that he was being followed. As Barry moved through the halls out into the parking lot to wait for the locksmith his sense of unease grew stronger. It was out in the parking lot that it happened. As Barry turned his back to the door he heard the voice of a child calling his name, several times over and over. He had the urge to turn and see what he thought would surely be a ghostly child in the doorway waiting for him, but he would not. He walked to the van and waited for the locksmith, never knowing just what was waiting in the building for him.

Don't Laugh at the Ghost

One night after filming five of us were sitting in Tara's office chatting. Amin had just finished telling us how he had been in that very office trying to take a nap one night when the ghost had flipped the light switch on and off. We all did what most people would do I imagine, we laughed and joked about the possibility of a ghost turning lights off and on. And that is when it happened. The sound of glass shattering so loudly that it seemed it had exploded startled all of us in the room. We ran into the hallway and started asking everyone what had been dropped or broken. What was strange was that nobody else heard the noise. None of the people just outside the office door, none of the people down the hall, none of the people in the costume department above us heard the shattering glasss. So we searched the entire building, all of us sure that some large piece of equipment had been broken. But we found nothing. Every room was fine. It wasn't until we had made our way all the way around to the front bathroom that had been empty at the time, shut up and dark. When we opened the door we found that the light fixture that had been there since the original bathroom, tight in the tile had been ripped out of the wall. It wasn't loose at any point earlier in the day, but now it was torn out of the wall and the mirror was shattered along with the soap dish broken. This was a something that would have taken any normal person two hands to pull it out of the wall. Yet nobody heard it except those of us two doors down who were making fun of the ghost. We learned our lesson that night...don't make fun of the ghost.

Dancing to the Music

Our studio composer Amin has had more than his fair share of experience with ghosts at Media World. It seems they like music and love to be around Amin and the music in his office. One evening while playing a new song on the guitar in his office with Bob sitting in to listen, the temperature in the room dropped steadily without anyone changing the thermostat or the weather changing outside. The more he played the more an energy picked up in the room and that is when it happened. Bob noticed it first and pointed it out to Amin but made sure to tell him to keep playing so that it wouldn't stop. Balls of light, white light, were collecting and whirling around the room. They would come out from behind Amin, spin around the guitar, fly past him and around again as though dancing to the music. Bob actually had his Iphone with him at the time and managed to get a video of this amazing happening. But once the music stopped, the dancing light stopped, just like that.

The Costume Department

During filming, the girls in charge of the costume department got to see first hand just what a prankster our ghosts could be. Apparently, these spirits thought it quite funny to take pieces from costumes here and there and pile them in the corner. Now, sure it doesn't seem scary...but it is odd. When things go missing for quite some time and then all end up in a pile in the corner, yes, that is odd. The other thing that happend up there was to Jamie in costume design. You see, Jamie wore an apron every day that she carried her supplies in...various safety pins and what not that she would need to fix costumes throughout the day. In the front pocket of that apron Jamie always had two five by seven pictures of her kids so that she could pull them out for a little smile whenever the days got long or difficult. But they always went right back into the apron pocket. Well, one day Jamie reached into the apron and there were no pictures. She searched and searched and couldn't find them anywhere. She asked the others to help and even after ripping the costume department apart, they could not find her precious pictures. Somebody in the building had mentioned to Jamie that when things go missing, if you will ask for them back you can have your items returned, but she had blown it off. But Jamie wanted her pictures. So, when nobody was around she asked the room..to please give her the pictures back. Not long after that she left briefly for some small task. When she returned one of her pictures was laying face down in the middle of the room. She bent down to pick it up and couldn't believe it. In amazement Jamie tucked the single picture in her apron and went about her day. Later that day, in the same exact spot, the other picture was found laying face down. Were the pictures returned by the ghost as Jamie had asked? Is it possible to lose something and find it again twice in exactly the same place? It does make you wonder.

It Happened To Me

When first brought onboard to cowrite Ghost of Goodnight Lane, I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical. Alin had me come to the studio and gave me all the background information that was needed to get started, but I was yet to have any real interaction with a ghost.

It wasn't until we were on set that things started to happen. One by one I heard stories from different crew members of happenings that didn't seem malicious, but still were enough to make anyone uncomfortable.

One day I was wearing a blouse that had a scarf hanging down the back of it. As I came in that morning, several of the girls had picked up the scarf from behind and complimented me on it while I was standing still or talking to someone. Later in the day everyone was in the front of the building filming. The entire back half was closed off with all the lights off. The front bathroom was blocked completely. One of our newer crew members came up and asked my quietly if there was any other bathroom he could use that wouldn't disturb filming. So, I took him to the back of the building, both of us tiptoeing all the way so as not to disturb sound and not turning on any lights.

On my way back I didn't think much about anything as I knew my way through those halls. It hadn't bothered me to walk through them with the lights off because even though it was dark it was daytime.

As I walked past the closed door of Amin's office, where a large amount of paranormal activity has taken place, I felt my scarf pulled on from behind as it had been all morning when the other girls had stopped me to compliment it.

I turned expecting to see Amin coming out of his office or another of the staff standing in the hall behind me, but the hall was empty. The hall was dark and completely still. Amin's door was shut and not being closed as though someone was going in.

It had never opened. I was alone, or as alone as you can feel when something reaches out of the darkness to touch you for just an instant.

Sara and the Ghost

One of our favorite faces on set every day at Ghost of Goodnight Lane was our producers/directors wife Sara Bijan. Sara was no stranger to the paranormal activity going on in our studio. One evening while fixing herself something in the studio kitchen, a glance in the window caught her a reflection of a man.

Her description of the man was one in his 30's, with black hair wearing a white shirt and black pants. On another occasion it was this same man that Sara saw walk from the hallway through the wall into Amin's office, not through the door, but through the wall. This gentleman visitor would be seen by many other staff amd visitors at Media World Studios.

No matter when or where they saw him, what time of day or night, anyone could search the studio top to bottom and would never find this gentleman visitor.
